MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION
This section of the website contains everything you need to know about joining Steyning RFC and registering as a player. You'll find information on membership, player registration, and the requirements for being eligible to play and represent the club.
Whether you're a new or returning player, parent, guardian, or supporter, this section is designed to answer your questions and help you get involved with the Steyning RFC community.
Mini & Junior Registration
RFU Player Registration
All Mini and Junior players must be registered with the RFU before they are eligible to play rugby.
If your child has already been registered with the RFU through another club or a previous season, they do not need to register again. Please ensure their RFU number is recorded on their Pitchero profile.
If you're unsure of their registration status or need help finding their RFU number, please speak to your Team Manager.
Only players who have never been registered with the RFU will need to complete a new RFU registration.
If you have any questions about RFU registration or are unsure whether your child is already registered, please contact the Steyning RFC Membership Secretary. Completing the registration incorrectly may delay the process and could mean your child is not eligible to play.
Please note: Paying your Steyning RFC membership does not automatically register your child with the RFU. Both processes must be completed before they can play in matches.
Club Membership
As well as RFU registration, all Mini and Junior players must become members of Steyning RFC by completing the annual club membership registration and paying the appropriate membership fee.
Membership is managed online through Pitchero, where you'll find the latest membership options and fees.
Club membership helps support coaching, facilities, equipment, safeguarding, and the continued development of youth rugby at Steyning RFC.
Membership Benefits
All club members receive:
-
Voting rights for one adult member at the Club AGM/EGM
-
Access to Steyning RFC social events
-
Access to member discounts and club offers where available
-
The opportunity to apply for RFU international ticket allocations
Steyning RFC believes rugby should be accessible to everyone. If membership fees present a financial difficulty, please speak to us in confidence. We are committed to ensuring no child misses out on rugby because of cost.
Keeping Your Details Up to Date
Please ensure your Pitchero account contains accurate and up-to-date information, including:
-
Emergency contact details
-
RFU registration number
-
Medical conditions and allergies
-
Any additional information relevant to your child's participation
Keeping this information current helps us provide a safe environment for all players.
Insurance & Parent Responsibilities
Steyning RFC provides the standard RFU-approved player insurance, which covers serious injury resulting in death or permanent disability.
This insurance does not cover medical expenses, loss of earnings or other personal costs. Families are encouraged to arrange additional personal insurance if they require this level of cover.
Players must have completed both their RFU registration and Steyning RFC membership before they are eligible to play in matches.
Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring coaches know who is supervising their child during training and matches.
For our youngest age groups:
-
U6: A parent or guardian must remain at the club throughout training.
-
U7 & U8: A parent or guardian must remain at the club during training and home matches and accompany players to away fixtures.
These arrangements form part of our safeguarding commitment.
